Hotel Mariners Haverfordwest Pembrokeshire West Wales

Mariners Square, Haverfordwest SA61 2DU, UK – 01437 763353

Very lovely place/location, and the staff were excellent. My room needed a bit of a face lift as it appeared a bit 'weathered' but very clean and tidy which was more important to me. I'll be staying here again :-)

Great hotel. Very nice, comfortable, and clean room. Fixed prices on the board. Would stay again.

County Hotel

Salutation Square, Haverfordwest SA61 2NB, UK – 01437 762144

I very much agree with Jeanette below. Staff friendly and rooms tidy and two out of three beds comfortable. But rather than big money spent on it, small things like cleaning the windows, replacing knackered mattress, etc would help massively. The staff did work hard and diligently and unblocked a shower immediately, but these things should be reported by cleaning staff, not by customer mid shower. The breakfast was good, and the price reflected the budget level, but it could be a whole lot more inviting. Would I return; depends what else I could find.

Good value for money. Lovely old hotel with wooden floors and sash windows. Well situated. Good breakfast, clean linen. The room smelled strongly of bleach, staff were a bit scruffy and the overall feel of the place is a tad tired. But given the price there is nothing to complain about.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The William Owen

6 Quay St, Haverfordwest SA61 1BG, UK – 01437 771900

Can't fault these guys for their food or beer. They have a large range of bar food on the menu, with specials on various days - curry nights, fish & chip days etc. They do a very good breakfast as well, although the portions here may be a little on the light side. There is a large selection of beers on tap, bottled beer / lager and a good variety of local ales available, which they have won recognition for stocking. The atmosphere is good, with pleasant décor and surroundings and the place is kept cleanly. There is also a beer garden at back, with seating and parasols, which is nice for the warmer months. This is usually the place we will go if coming into Haverfordwest for a drink in the evening.

Great beer and good prices. Lots of choice and helpful staff. But dark and dingy and not very clean

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

College guest house

93 Hill StreetSt Thomas Green, Haverfordwest SA61 1QL, Haverfordwest SA61 1QL, UK – 01437 763710

Set in the old part of Haverfordwest, College Guest House is an original Georgian building, complete with shutters rather than curtains. I arrived late, after a long drive and received a warm welcome. My room and en-suite bathroom were immaculately clean and I slept like a log, almost missing breakfast! Breakfast was good, and the staff friendly. All in all a definite thumbs up.

Ideal guest house if you have a dog with you. Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast.

Premier Inn Haverfordwest North

Glanafon Farm House, Fishguard Road, Haverfordwest SA62 4BQ, UK – 0871 527 9546

Service was very good. The room was lovely and clean and there were good beds for the children in comparison to some places we have stayed. My only criticism would be that the room was very stuffy. It was a ground floor room so I understand that it was for security but my wife and I had a very restless night. I do accept though that we might be considered weird as we sleep with the window open and a fan on even in winter. All round, I think you could expect much more for the money.

Clean and well maintained (quite new) hotel in a very central spot for exploring West Wales/ Pembrokeshire. Every single staff member was smiley and polite and they even tucked in our kids teddy's when cleaning the room (nice touch). As a frequent international traveller for work, I have to overcome snobbery and admit that Premier Inn actually delivered a better overall customer experience and quality than most.

Boulston Manor

Boulston, Haverfordwest SA62 4AQ, UK – 01437 764600

Fantastic. Lovely bedrooms with lounge furniture. Spacious bathroom. Old style but modern functionality. nice selection of guest toiletries. Charming, welcoming and helpful hosts. Breakfast also efficient and varied. Able to meet the other guests too. Manor in its own grounds, so able to walk past the sheep and cattle to visit the ruined chapel and the river nearby. We only visited one night, but felt right at home. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent place to stay and very attentive hosts - will we stay again - most definitely

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
